DEAR MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS OF THE IAPA (AUS)/ SAF,

I am writing to invite you and your partner to attend the 3rd International Mental Health & Cultural Psychiatry Conference and Annual Meeting of our organisation to be held at the Sofitel Melbourne 25 Collins Street Melbourne from the 24th 26th of November 2006.

As you can see from the 1st and 2nd International Mental Health & Cultural Psychiatry Conferences it was indeed an overwhelming success on all aspects for the participants. The Organising Committee has again put together an outstanding program with no less than 10 international speakers from the USA, UK, Italy and South Asia and South East Asia. In addition, a cultural program involving a healing energy meditation class on Saturday morning, and a Gala Dinner on Saturday night, with Indian cultural folk dances and Bhangara music to dance to. As a result of the generous industry support of the meeting, we have managed to keep the costs of Registration and the Gala Dinner to an absolute minimum. The meeting has international significance, in that it is being co-sponsored by the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), and the new WPA Section on Psychiatry in Developing

countries and jointly organised by the South Asian Forum on Mental Health and Psychiatry UK, Indian, Bangladesh, Canadian, Malaysian, Pakistan, Sri Lankan, Thailand and US chapters, Indo American Psychiatric Association, the British Indian Psychiatrists Association and the Indo-Canadian Psychiatric Association.

It is the intention of the Organising Committee to also acknowledge the contribution of prominent Australian South Asian psychiatrists and Psychiatrists Globally that have contributed to Global psychiatry at the Dinner. Given the quality and attendance of the 2 previous conferences this promises to be another great event relating to best in the science, best in the art of well being psychiatry from East and West. I urge all of you to seriously consider attending this wonderful meeting and registering as soon as possible so as to show your support.
