I have great pleasure in inviting you to the inaugural meeting of the Indo-Australasian Psychiatry Association (IAPA) in Melbourne , the cultural and scientific heart of Australia . This conference is a celebration of the contributions made by psychiatrists from the Indian Subcontinent to the mental health services in Australia and New Zealand , as well as their status as prominent citizens of their adopted countries. The theme of the conference is appropriately “inter-cultural” psychiatry, deriving from the rich cultural interchange that occurs at our every encounter. The panel of invited speakers is of the highest standing, and the program committee has ensured a stimulating, entertaining and enriching experience for psychiatrists and mental health workers from all backgrounds. The conference also promises to be a unique social gathering and will help foster collaborations and friendships for years to come.
